Tardigrades are tiny animals, less than one millimeter long. They are famous because they survived a trip to space. But they are strong only in a special dry state. When their home dries up, they roll into a ball and almost stop living. In this state, they are very tough.
But active tardigrades are weak. In one study, half of them died after one day at about 37°C, the temperature of a warm bath.

Q1. What is the passage mainly about?
Q2. What happened in one study at about 37°C?
half of them died after one day at about 37°C とあるので B。
Q3. In the passage, "tough" means ...
But active tardigrades are weak.
Tardigrades, tiny eight-legged animals that live in moss, are often called the toughest animals on Earth. In 2007, dried tardigrades were sent into space on a satellite, and many came back to life after returning to Earth and being given water.
However, they are strong only in a dry, inactive state. When their surroundings dry out slowly, they pull in their legs and become a small barrel, and their activity almost stops. Active tardigrades are much weaker. A 2020 study found that half of the active animals of one species died after 24 hours at about 37°C. In the dry state, half of them could survive more than 80°C for one hour.

Q1. What did tardigrades do after their trip to space?
many came back to life after returning to Earth and being given water とあるので A。
Q2. Which statement is true according to the passage?
Q3. What can we infer from the 2020 study?
Tardigrades, tiny animals that live in moss, are famous for being almost impossible to kill. In a 2008 report, dried specimens carried into low Earth orbit on a satellite mostly survived the vacuum of space, and some even survived direct ultraviolet light from the sun. In 2016, Japanese researchers identified Dsup, a protein found only in tardigrades.
When it was put into cultured human cells, X-ray damage to their DNA fell by roughly 40 percent. These feats, however, depend almost entirely on a dormant, dried-out state. The animal pulls in its legs, and its metabolism nearly stops. It also has to dry slowly to get there, because sudden desiccation can be fatal.
Awake and active, a tardigrade is far more fragile. A 2020 study of one species found that half of the active animals died after 24 hours at about 37 degrees Celsius, while half the dried animals survived over 80 degrees for an hour.
The researchers warned that global warming could threaten such animals. Tolerance, though, varies widely between species. Even dormant tardigrades have a breaking point. In a 2021 experiment, they survived being fired at a target only at speeds up to about 900 meters per second.
