たとえば現在完了形のルールを理解したら、「I have lived in Tokyo for ten years.」のように自分のことを言う文を作り、実際の会話や作文で何度も使ってみる。知識として「わかる」文法を、練習を通して「とっさに出る」文法に変えていくイメージです。
04まとめ
「文法なんて勉強するな」は、研究から見ると言いすぎでした。
ただし文法は、覚えて終わりではなく、使って初めて「話せる文法」になる。ルールで近道をして、浮いた時間で英語をたくさん使う。それが、効率のよいルートだと考えられます。

Some people say, "Don't study grammar. Just listen to a lot of English." Is that right? In 2000, two researchers looked at 49 studies. They found that teaching grammar rules clearly worked better. The effect was about two times bigger than teaching without rules.
But knowing a rule is not the same as using it in conversation. So learn the rule quickly, and then make your own sentences and use them many times.

「文法は勉強するな。たくさんの英語をただ聞けばいい」と言う人がいます。それは正しいのでしょうか。2000年、2人の研究者が49の研究を調べました。その結果、文法のルールをはっきり教えるほうが効果的だとわかりました。その効果は、ルールなしで教える場合のおよそ2倍の大きさでした。
しかし、ルールを知っていることは、それを会話で使うことと同じではありません。ですから、ルールは手早く学び、それから自分の文を作って何度も使いましょう。

Q1. How many studies did the two researchers look at?
two researchers looked at 49 studies とあるので C。2000 は年。
Q2. What did the researchers find?
teaching grammar rules clearly worked better とあるので A。
Q3. What does the writer say you should do after learning a rule?
make your own sentences and use them many times とあるので B。
Children learn their first language without grammar lessons. So some people argue that a foreign language should be learned in the same natural way. Research does not support that idea. In 2000, Norris and Ortega combined the results of 49 studies on second language teaching.
Teaching in general had a large effect that lasted for weeks. Explicit instruction, where rules are clearly explained, had an effect about twice as large as implicit instruction, where they are not. A 2010 meta-analysis found that explicit teaching worked better for both simple and complex grammar.
But many of the tests in these studies, such as multiple-choice questions, may favor learners who know the rules. Knowing a rule is different from using it quickly in conversation. That is why practice is still essential.

Q1. What is "explicit instruction"?
Explicit instruction, where rules are clearly explained と説明されているので D。
Q2. What did the 2010 meta-analysis find?
explicit teaching worked better for both simple and complex grammar とあるので D。
Q3. Why does the writer say "practice is still essential"?
Knowing a rule is different from using it quickly in conversation. とあるので B。
Children pick up their first language without anyone explaining the rules, and that fact is often used to argue that second language learners need only plenty of input. Research syntheses have repeatedly pointed the other way. In a landmark 2000 meta-analysis of 49 experimental studies, Norris and Ortega found that second language instruction produced large effects that held up on delayed posttests.
Explicit instruction, in which rules are stated, had an effect roughly twice as large as implicit instruction. A 2010 meta-analysis found an advantage for explicit teaching whether the grammar point was simple or complex, even on free production tasks. A 2015 update found that the gap had narrowed but not disappeared. Norris and Ortega themselves flagged a weakness.
Many outcome measures, such as multiple-choice items and grammaticality judgments, tend to favor learners with explicit knowledge, and it is not yet clear that such knowledge turns into the automatic skill needed in spontaneous conversation. The comparison with children also breaks down on closer inspection, because children get years of massive input that classroom learners never receive. For busy learners, the most efficient route seems to be a short explanation followed by plenty of meaningful practice.
